Luna Bloom was founded by Helena Hentz in 2020, after finishing her training with Jane Bennett ( the founder of Celebration Day for Girls).
Many cultures have coming-of-age rituals to mark the transition from girlhood to womanhood. In some societies, these rites of passage are elaborate and involve a community celebration; in other societies, they are more private affairs. But despite their different forms, these rituals all serve to recognise a young woman’s entry into a new stage of life.
For many girls, initiation into womanhood is a time of both excitement and trepidation. On the one hand, they are eager to take on the responsibilities of adulthood; on the other hand, they may feel anxious about leaving behind the safety and comfort of childhood. In either case, initiation ceremonies provide an important opportunity for girls and women to come together and learn from one another. Through these shared experiences, they can gain strength and confidence in themselves as they embark on the journey to womanhood.
Luna Bloom offers a forward-thinking and gentle approach to menstrual education through Celebration Day for Girls and Teen Circles:
Celebration Day for Girls (CDG) incorporates the best research and infuses it with the wisdom of traditional rites of passage that have long been a feature of successful cultures around the world. The first period is a momentous experience in a girl’s life and marks the start of monthly periods that will continue for more than half of their lives.
CDG is a nourishing and energising bonding opportunity for mothers and daughters, self and others. It is a one-day workshop for 9-14 years old girls, with their mothers or female carers.
Teen Circles is a social hub that provides pre-teen and teen girls with the opportunity to build confidence and connection through gatherings.
